Huh? What? Huh?

Is it Saturday already?? Wow, the tail end of this week flew by. What have I done??

On Wednesday night I hosted a Sex in the City night at my house. **A little background for you - I've never watched any episode of Sex in the City - ever.** So this was brand spanking new for me. Two of my buddies came by and we saw 12 episodes of season 4. We started about 8:30 pm and didn't finish until 3 am!! While we watched the super funny episodes we were also playing the Sex in the City card game. It was tons of fun!

The next morning was Turkey Day. My dear aunt called at 7:30 am and woke me up. So I was running on 4 hours of sleep on T-Day. Anyhow, besides my lack of sleep, this day was perfect. I spent most of the day in the kitchen with my mom cooking. I've never really done that before, sad I know. Well growing up I would watch and listen to my mom cook with her sisters. They would constantly talk while preparing whatever complicated dish they were working on. Their conversations would usually consist of catching each other up on the latest gossip or life updates of family and/or friends from the past. Well this day, T-Day 2008, my mom and me had a similar bonding experience. She just started opening up to me. We discussed things and people that in any other occasion she would feel completely uncomfortable talking about. I couldn't believe it! It was awesome. We shared pots, pans, the stove & oven, and wonderful stories of the past. Throughout the day my sisters and I were in touch via our cell phones and text messaging. We all cooked at our respective homes and finally met up at the home of one of my sisters. We warmed up our dishes and sat down to have a wonderful meal. I had a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving this year. :-)

Friday was such a Saturday! Slept in and took it slow. Late in the afternoon I joined Yaz and went to visit Weenie. We spent a couple of hours with her and the baby before we left. While at Weenie's we watched a show on the Food Network on BBQ food and restaurants. This show inspired my taste buds so Yaz and I went to Baby Blues BBQ in Venice for dinner. Yum Yum Yum!!! After that great dinner we went to a pretty cool event in downtown. A Spoken Word event was hosted at the Lost Souls Cafe in downtown. The cafe is pretty cool and is located right across from Bar 107. I'm definitely going back! After the event ended we hopped in the car and went to the Backstage Bar in Culver City. Wheeew! Lots of driving but Yaz and I split the driving duty. :-) Our night at Backstage started a little slow but it later got really fun. Too bad we didn't get to see Yaz's bro sing. :-( We will save it for another night.

Today IS Saturday. I have a small party to attend but I hope to exit quick because I was just invited to another party at an art gallery. One of my fave current artists will be DJ'ing the event. Can't wait!!!

Okay empty space, this is it for today.

Memories...

I do this pretty often. I go into email archives, old boxes of memories, and old journals to read and remember. Well I did it again today. I went into my inbox in MySpace and read some really old messages from someone who I was once very close to.

The messages were very long and started friendly and apologetic. Then they turned into pretty angry messages. I couldn't see my responses unfortunately but I have an idea of what they were. They were probably just as angry and unforgiving. What's done is done and there's no turning back, I know. Reading these messages today, two years later, made me realize that we should have never written them in the first place. We held a very important conversation via MySpace and it should have been at the very least over the phone.

Lesson learned: Never say important thoughts or feelings via email or messaging (text messaging included)! You never really get to say what you want in the way you want. The other person reads feelings / emotions that are not there and things can go in a whole other direction that was not intended. Gather your courage and have a conversation in person or at the very least on the phone. It's hard but in the end well worth it.

Happy Tuesday!

Hello there empty space!! Nothing much as happened this week. I have been an exceptional couch potato the last two days. All couch potatos in the world would be proud of me.
Yesterday I spent the entire day indoors on my computer. Ahemm... that's when I created this blog. I did see a movie. It's a Tyler Perry movie and called "Why Did I Get Married". It was mailed from Netflix and I finally decided to check it out. I was pretty impressed with the movie and its message. Good movie for all you married folk. :-) After the movie I saw Dancing with the Stars and that pretty much sums up my Monday.

Today, Tuesday, was a little more active. After hours of TV and computer I went grocery shopping at 3:30 pm. Ummm, that's it. :-) lol! Just kidding, my day isn't over. I still need to see Dancing with the Stars final episode. haha!

I did have some human interaction today. I talked to my sisters and Yaz. With Yaz we laughed about my endless health issues. Actually I laughed at my health issues, Yaz was laughing at me laughing. :-) My conversation with my sisters was mainly Turkey Day recipe talk. I can't wait!! I also told my younger sis about this funny story I've shared with a select few. You see, it all started when a question was asked. "How was your weekend?" A full blown relationship status/I found my soulmate story quickly followed. Yeah... weird huh? lol! Whatev!!!

Anyhow, tomorrow I must raise my heartbeat slighty higher than these last two days. I plan on cleaning my room (that's a huge cardio workout itself) and go grocery shopping again and prepare for Turkey Day.

Adios mi amigos!!!

No Big Deal...

So my BFF Weenie started a blog today. I'm so happy for her & in my attempt to subscribe to her blog I ended up in the middle of creating my own blog. WTF???? I know... lame. Anyhow, I normally use MySpace for blogging but I may do more babbling here. hahaha! Not many people know but I've kept a journal since junior high. I don't keep them up as much as I'd like to but I'm also almost thinking of doing something similiar here. Hey! Wait a sec there fast thinkers! No crazy romance novel material here just random & ridiculous postings. Okay for example...

Yesterday was a pretty fun day for me. I woke up at the crack of dawn because my niece spent the night and was running up and down the hallway laughing & screaming at 6:30 am. My sister and bro-in-law came by a couple of hours later to pick up my niece and brought with them yummy breakfast from Celaya Bakery. Yum Yum Yum! Anyhow, they remind me that my other niece is performing in a play so off we all go to Granada Hills. We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz! Family time at the play, dinner, and coffee later was awesome. I LOVE my family!

After family time I drove from Granada Hills to Highland Park in less than 30 minutes. Yup I flew. No idea how fast I was going but the next thing I knew I was about to pass the 2 so I "busted a crazy" and went from the left most lane to the right lane like a person with a death wish. Anyhow, I made it to my destination safe & sound (sort-of) and arrived at Yaz's house and even found a prime parking space in front of her house. The parking space is a big deal people, trust me. :-) The plan was to go for coffee and a movie with Yaz & her bro Alan. The coffee plan was killed when we discovered that we all had plastic & no cash for Zona Rosa Cafe. So went to the Laemmle (spelling???) in Pasadena to see Slumdog Millionaire. AWESOME movie everyone!! The poop scene was priceless. :-) hahaha! This movie is a must see for all of you.

Anyhow... that was my fun Sunday. A bit of family, Wizard of Oz, and Slumdog Millionaire.
